I've been compiling the tracks for the end of year favourites mix and a few wordless pleasures always find their way into the sequence, so this seems like an appropriate time to dedicate another edition to instrumentals.

After a vigorous day of yardwork quite frankly all I'm looking forward to is a short nap. This particular mix tries to bridge the gap between manic and smooth quite gracefully, with an equal number of successes and failures. Of course the final judge of their relative merits is you!

This fundraising week I'll keep the on-line playlist on the track-blaster website since it's a wee bit easier than doing two of these things as once. For those who would like to donate between the hours of 8AM and 10AM just call 617-253-8810. Or feel free to use the web pledge and select Breakfast of Champions Thursday as your favorite show. Either way I'll make sure to get you the 2008 edition of the Favorites compilation. A sure hit with small dogs and indigenous fauna, tested on prisoners so you know it's safe for children.

A wee bit late, but here's the playlist. Note that on fundraising week I break between each song so not much witty to add here.

Fret not if you don't listen live, just donate through WMBR's website within the next two weeks and select Breakfast of Champions Thursday as your favorite show - the CD set will appear with any premiums you select. The leadoff track of this latest mix elicited the loudest groan of the year from Joanie, a sure sign that repeat listens are needed to fully appreciate its charms. Its jovial tone influences the rest of the selections, which range from inconsequential pop to delicate dance confections.
